How to Apply

1. Complete an Application

To request an application please contact us or email info@greekstudiesonsite.com.

2. Submit for Review

Email your complete application to info@greekstudiesonsite.com. Greek Studies on Site will notify you of your acceptance decision within one week of the submission of your application. Because enrollment in the program is limited, students are encouraged to apply as early as possible.

 

3. Place a Deposit and Pay Fees

Summer Seminars: Greek Mythology & Ancient Greek Philosophy in Context

The total cost of each of these programs is €2600. Fees include tuition, accommodation at the Greek Studies on Site Guesthouse, entrance to all sites and museums, and three day-trips. Off-grounds accommodation is not included in the total cost of the program. 

Deposit: €400

Balance: €2200

Greek Studies on Site requires a deposit for all summer programs in the amount of €400. The deposit must be paid within one month of acceptance into the program.

The remaining balance is due no later than May 15, 2024.

            All fees must be paid by secure bank transfer (contact us for account details).

Semester Program: History and Archaeology of Athens & Modern Greek for Beginners

The total cost of the semester program (including both courses) is €4700. Fees include tuition, entrance to all sites and museums, and three day-trips. Accommodation is not included in the total cost of the program. 

 

Full fees must be paid in full within one month of acceptance into the program, and no later than February 25, 2024.

 All fees must be paid by secure bank transfer (contact us for account details).

4. Read and Return Materials for Accepted Students

Once accepted, you will be sent an Acceptance Packet. Please sign, scan, and email your completed Acceptance Packet to info@greekstudiesonsite.com.

Transportation to Sites

Transportation to the archaeological sites in Athens is by public transport. Transportation to archaeological sites outside of Athens is by private bus.

Transferring Credits

Each home institution makes its own determination about the number of credits to assign to a student who has successfully completed Greek Studies on Site requirements. We suggest three credits for a summer seminar.

Credit Hours

Students seeking credit in 3-week courses are required to complete a minimum of 60 hours of combined instruction and field study. This includes a total of 30 hours of field study, in addition to 30 hours of in-class instruction.

Grades and Transcripts
Grades are based on written examinations and quizzes, class attendance, and participation. Typically, students seeking credit are required to take a final exam and write one research paper. Upon completion of the course, an official transcript will be issued to the student's academic institution. 

Health Insurance

Non-EU citizens are strongly encouraged to acquire health insurance for travelers before coming to Greece. EU citizens must have acquired the European Health Insurance Card.

Travel Insurance

All participants are strongly encouraged to purchase travel insurance to cover program fees and related travel expenses.

Discounts for Summer Programs

Early Registration

You can earn a €100 discount by paying the full amount of your summer program fees no later than March 1, 2024. Choosing this discount makes program fees non-refundable. Please indicate your preference for this discount on your application form.

Parties of Two or More

If you wish to apply as a party of two or more, you can earn a €100 discount for each applicant. Please indicate your preference for this discount on your application form in addition to the names of the other applicants in your party.
